SWB Equestrian Weeks is honored to welcome the renowned international showjumping judge Richard Bourns to this year’s competitions. With an impressive career spanning over three decades, Bourns has become a respected figure in the equestrian world, both as a judge and as someone who discovers and develops talented young horses worldwide.

-Last time I was at the SWB Equestrian Weeks and the Breeders Trophy, I bought Disa DM (42) (SWB) (b. 2014, by Diarado out of Diva (42) (SWB) by Feliciano (SWB), breeder: Anna Brand Mogren), a promising 5-year-old mare at the time, who is now competing successfully as a 9-year-old, Richard recalls. So, I am really looking forward to visiting Flyinge again!
-I like that Swedish breeders often choose younger, promising stallions; they are often more progressive than traditional breeders in Europe. Choosing younger, promising stallions drives breeding progress, moves the sport forward, and the next generation of horses becomes even better!

Originally from Ireland, Richard Bourns has a deep passion for equestrian sports. Through his company, Bourns Sport Horses, which he runs together with his son Andrew Bourns, they specialize in sourcing and training promising show jumpers.
-We handpick and purchase everything from foals to 6-year-old horses, says Richard. They grow, starts being ridden and trained by two skilled riders here in Ireland, and when they are ready for bigger tasks, they go to Andrew in the USA.

During SWB Equestrian Weeks, Richard Bourns will contribute his keen eye and extensive experience as a judge. His background in both judging and competing in the sport gives him a unique understanding of horses, riders, and the importance of the entire team.
-Richard’s presence as an international judge will further elevate the standard of the Breeders Trophy, says SWB competition leader Tomas Torgersen. We hope that the participants not only receive constructive feedback but also encouragement and motivation for the future, he concludes.

We look forward to experiencing top-class international competition with Richard Bourns among this year’s judges.
