Yearlings at the Kriterie Sale

This year’s Kriterie Sale will be held at Solvalla on September 27-29. The Kriterie Sale is Sweden’s largest young horse auction for trotting horses and the list is long with future trotting stars that has changed owner at this auction. SWB has recently initiated cooperation ASVT’s auction company Trottex, and the first step in the collaboration is to open the Kriterie Sale for a smaller number selected yearlings top-bred for jumping. The SWB-horses are invited to Thursday’s Select Sale where our jumping horses get a perfect exposure among the swedish born trotting horses.

The selection of horses are made by the very experienced jumping judge and SWB’s representative in the young horse world championships, Lasse Berglund.

– When we get this chance, it’s really cherry-picking, says Lasse Berglund. The horses I choose will represent SWB and Sweden from an international perspective and be aspirants for championship in the future, he continues. It is incredibly important that we find yearling with top pedigree for jumping and we will place great emphasis on having a really strong and performance-proof motherline.

– I think this is the start of a greater collaboration, which I think will be very good for all parties. We believe there is a great potential in cooperation with SWB, as it is not so common for auction horses for riding horses in Sweden. It is fun and rewarding to learn from each other and to work together on common issues across the breeds, says Sara Lennartsson, General Secretary at ASVT.

– It is a unique opportunity for us to find new interests, both for the jumping sport in general and for creating new constellations of horse ownership, says the swedish federation captain in jumping and SWB’s board member Henrik Ankarcrona. We are a small country and I only see the benefits of such cross-border cooperation. It’s definitely win-win for all parties.

There is really a chance to enjoy both trot and auctions this week when Solvalla first runs the V86 on Wednesday and then V75 on Saturday with the the Grand Prix d’UET and on Sunday, the V75 is again whith the Swedish Kriterie Race is held.
