The Swedish Warmblood is one of the oldest warmblood breeds in the world. For centuries we have bred horses for the purpose of riding them. The tradition dates back to the 1600 – and 1700:s when Sweden was a dominating military power in Europe and breeders were to provide the Royal Cavalry with horses suitable for the battle field. The draught horses used for agricultural work were too heavy and not agile enough. The cavalry needed a horse that was powerful, light, agile and fast. This is the foundation of the breeding program leading up to the excellent dressage – and jumping horse that is the Swedish Warmblood of today. One of the oldest warmblod breeds in the world.
