SWB is delighted to once again welcome German trainer, breeder, and judge Gerd Küst to this year’s Breeders Trophy in Eventing. Joining him, as last time, will be British judge and trainer Angela Tucker. Together, they will evaluate the 4- and 5-year-old eventing horses during the Nordic-Baltic Championships competition weekend at Össjö, just outside Ängelholm, September 13–14.

“There’s been a strong interest in qualifying for the Breeders Trophy in eventing, both this year and last, especially among 4-year-old horses,” says Anette Sånesson, SWB’s Eventing Coordinator. “This shows growing engagement in the sport and highlights the importance of professional evaluation of our young, promising horses. We hope many of last year’s 4-year-olds return as 5-year-olds this year to compete for the prize money.”

Gerd Küst brings over 50 years of experience in sport horse breeding in eventing, jumping, and dressage, and is highly regarded in the equestrian world. His involvement is a hallmark of quality for both the sport and the Breeders Trophy.

“We are thrilled to have Gerd Küst back at this year’s Breeders Trophy for 4-, 5-, and 6-year-old SWB horses,” says Event Director Lars Christensson. “I’m confident he’ll once again deliver highly professional assessments of the young eventing horses. Both he and Angela Tucker were greatly appreciated as judges last year, and they praised the Swedish eventing riders and good horse quality.”

Gerd Küst is a respected breeding expert and the founder of the well-known Holsteiner line 8888. He has produced around 20 approved stallions, including Zinedream (by Zinedine–Contender), Quiwi Dream (by Quidam de Revel–Contender), and Greek Air (by Gribaldi–Florestan I). Gerd is also an experienced trainer, breeding and competition judge, with judging experience ranging from the Bundeschampionat to 4-star classes and World Cup competitions. He has also played an important coaching role for young German riding talents.

The Breeders Trophy in eventing is organized by SWB in collaboration with Össjö Hästsällskap on the beautiful cross-country course outside Ängelholm, and is held in conjunction with the Nordic-Baltic Championships. The Breeders Trophy is presented in partnership with AgriaLandshypotek Bank, and Evidensia Animal Hospital Helsingborg, and will take place on September 13–14.

Spectators, breeders, riders, and enthusiasts are warmly welcome to enjoy an exciting weekend of sport and see the stars of the future in eventing.

Qualification closes on September 8 – SWB horses from abroad are also eligible to qualify. Please contact SWB for more details on info@swb.org
